The Dodgers announced the news on Monday, two-time All-Star and Silver Slugger Award winner Seager succumbing to a right ulnar collateral ligament sprain.

Seager was batting .267 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 26 games this season before the injury.

The 24-year-old hit 48 home runs combined during the last two seasons, while batting over .300 during that time.

Los Angeles (12-15) are just fourth in the National League (NL) this season while dealing with a number of injuries.

With Seager out, and Justin Turner still not back in the line-up, the Dodgers are now without two of their top hitters from last season’s World Series runner-up team.

Seager’s absence leaves a huge hole in the Dodgers’ line-up, but they may be able to procure Baltimore Orioles shortstop Manny Machado, who was briefly on the trading block with his contract ending after the season.
