With one out in the bottom of the 12th inning on Friday night, with the game tied and Smith up to bat, the Dodgers moved their entire infield between first and second base.
Trying to get Smith to ground out and prevent a run scoring with Alexi Amarista, Yangervis Solarte and Abraham Almonte already on base, the Dodgers packed the baseline. It worked!
Sort of.
Smith grounded into a fielder’s choice, with Amarista being called out at home but Smith advancing to first.
Yasmani Grandal would hit a walkoff single to win the game but hey, at least the Dodgers forced one out.
