It would seem to be a no-brainer that when Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 gets made, Kevin Feige would want to tap Raimi to head the project. The Evil Dead director already has quite a bit of experience making Spider-Man movies. Of course, his experience came before even Andrew Garfield took on the role of Peter Parker, as Raimi and Tobey Maguire jump-started Spider-Man movies with the first trilogy that starred Maguire. It appears that the fact that the director worked on the original trilogy is why he won’t return to shoot another movie centered on the web-slinger.

Raimi recently talked about returning to Marvel for Doctor Strange 2 with the Los Angeles Times​​​​​​, and the conversation eventually took a turn towards Spidey. When asked whether he would work with Holland whenever Spider-Man 4 gets made, he was clear that it wasn’t going to happen. The director made it clear that his reluctance to work with Holland had nothing to do with not respecting him as an actor. Instead, Raimi said that it was about working with any other actor playing Peter Parker besides Tobey Maguire.

He joked that if he ever worked with Holland on another Spider-Man film, Maguire would break his neck. Despite the fact that Raimi is staying loyal by only working with Maguire on their Spider-Man 4, it still doesn’t appear that it’s going to happen in the MCU. The director said that no one has contacted him about resurrecting that particular storyline, even if there was a success bringing Maguire’s Spidey into No Way Home.

While Raimi seems to be convinced that he’s not going to be doing any more Spider-Man movies with anyone besides Maguire, there’s a growing group of people who would like to see the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director team up with Holland. That includes other people who have worked in the MCU, like Moon Knight producer Grant Curtis. Curtis said he would love to see what Raimi and Holland could do together if they paired up to work on Spider-Man 4. It seems likely the voices calling for that are going to get louder as time goes on.
