In his latest clip, PewDiePie pulls no punches when it comes to critiquing his early work, with one of the first comments he makes being about the way he would record and upload long, uncut videos, which essentially provided viewers with footage of him wasting time. For the “new” PewDiePie, time is money, proving this by not only making $7.45 million in YouTube earnings for 2014, but also by explaining that he now records for hours, which he then edits down to several minutes of the best stuff.
As seen in the video below, PewDiePie essentially talks about how people tend to evolve in different ways no matter the individual or how one operates within the medium for which they work. In fact, he points out how he used to make insensitive jokes without thinking about it, saying:

At about the midway point of the clip, PewDiePie revisits some of his old playthroughs of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which jump-started the YouTuber’s popularity. One of the videos of him playing the game even made its way into his panel segment on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Interestingly enough, PewDiePie says that some of his fans tell him his humor seemed more natural back then, but the YouTuber disagrees entirely. As it happens, PewDiePie explains that in the Amnesia videos, he was trying way too hard to make jokes, and would often force his humor, which is rarely a recipe for a good laugh.
Ultimately, PewDiePie makes the case that from his beginnings as a Let’s Player on YouTube, he’s grown as a person, an entertainer, and has changed for the better overall. While all of that is certainly debatable, it’s safe to say that he definitely has a lot more responsibilities in 2016 than he did in 2011, which will definitely cause anyone to refine their personality and reorder their priorities. With his own entertainment network up and running, as well as the aforementioned YouTube Red series, PewDiePie’s undoubtedly come a long way since he started out.
